Hello and welcome to my blog! Let me tell you a little about myself and what you can expect to find here.
I’m just a girl from Nebraska, who happened to discover a few things that would shape the course of my life. First, I discovered art and design, which has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. During college, I discovered a love for travel and learning about different cultures and ways of living on this planet. My love of travel spurred a passion for food and cooking, learning about how food is grown, gardening, and learning how to cook and bake anything I can.
And in 2015, I found the biggest surprise of them all… I met my dream man, a European with professional level cooking abilities who loved to travel, oh and his job? Art dealer…. And not to mention, we met while on vacation to the island of Maui in Hawaii. Richard is originally from the Netherlands but had moved to Maui a year or so before I met him and was just looking for a lady to share his paradise with. Needless to say, after a few months I moved to Maui as well. Now, even though we’re no longer on Maui, we’re still together.
What a dreamy life, you might think. But, somewhere during these discoveries, I found myself dealing with food sensitivities and chronic pelvic pain, which as you’ll see altered my relationship with my all of my passions, but also birthed a new passion of optimizing health and nutrition.
After beginning to see a naturopathic doctor in 2019, and working on healing my body through food and supplements, I began sharing my journey with food on my personal Instagram account. I have continuously been grateful for and surprised by the number of people who consistently follow my journey and are inspired by my recipes. I know I’m not alone in my health journey, and that many of us struggle with similar issues while trying to continue to live our best lives. The connections I have made through this journey is what inspired me to document my story, my health journey, and provide any help and guidance I can for anyone looking to live a more healthy and more beautiful life.
On this blog you’ll soon find stories about my own health journey and discoveries, healthy recipes from a culinary perspective, health tips, as well as design and travel guides, including how to travel while dealing with food sensitivities. Through this blog, I hope to create a community for sharing resources and providing perspective.
But most of all on my blog, This Cultured Life, you’ll learn wellbeing and how to elevate everyday experiences through nutritious food, beautiful surroundings, and connection to the larger world.
